Today, Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, marks a significant milestone for us at 21 Degrees—it's been two years since the exceptional James Bancroft joined our team. In just 24 months, James has not only transformed our PPC department into the most profitable arm of the company but has also become an integral part of our culture, participating in nearly every team event. Beyond that, he’s mentored two staff members, helping them evolve into outstanding PPC professionals.

Last year, we had the pleasure of interviewing James to commemorate his first anniversary with us. If you missed that, we encourage you to check it out James's first work anniversary interview . This year, we're excited to sit down with him again to reflect on the past 12 months and see how much has changed since our last conversation.

A Conversation with James Bancroft: Year Two at 21 Degrees

What has been different about your second year at 21 Degrees compared to your first?

James: The company has evolved quite a bit over the last year. We've moved offices (again), which was a big change. We also welcomed Colette to the PPC team, and her addition has significantly enhanced our delivery capabilities. The improvements we've made in terms of quality, systems, and processes have been incredible to witness, along with our increased focus on 21 Degrees' own marketing efforts.

What has been your biggest win this year?

James: I’m at risk of sounding repetitive from last year, but the continued growth of both Dec and Colette has been a massive win. Every month, they increase their skill level, teach other team members and have developed fantastic relationships with clients. If I had to highlight something new, the success of the Flooring by Nature project stands out. It's been a true team effort across 21 Degrees, and seeing everyone rally around it has been amazing.

At 21 Degrees, we prioritse our people and culture. What has been your favourite social event of the past year, and why?

James: My favourite social this year was the Christmas party and Bongo's Bingo. It was fun, it was chaotic and it was very 21 Degrees.

You're known for being a keen learner who constantly upskills themselves, what have you learnt in the last year (work or non work related) and what are you hoping to learn this year?

James: With the rollout of GA4 and changes in consent mode, I've delved deep into tracking and tagging, learning how to adapt to and improve our systems amidst these new challenges.

What has been your biggest client win this year?

James: Flooring by Nature is a standout project we're all proud of, as I mentioned earlier. Besides that, working with Carers UK has been incredibly rewarding. We’ve been able to support carers in West Yorkshire and have seen a significant improvement in their results, which feels truly meaningful.

Last year, we asked what your goal for the coming year was, and you said, "I’m looking forward to continuing the growth from this year. It’ll be great to see the development of some of our client’s businesses too, such as Flooring by Nature, which only started towards the end of last year." Do you feel you’ve achieved this?

James: Yes! We've seen really consistent growth from Flooring by Nature and won a national award for the campaign too.

What is your goal for the next year at 21 Degrees?

James: I’d love to introduce training as a service. We often take over ad accounts that have basic errors, and I think we could really help small business owners get started on the right foot. There aren’t many trustworthy online sources out there, so we could fill that gap.

Is there anyone you’d like to shout out who has particularly supported you, or someone you're excited to continue working with in the coming year?

James: As mentioned before, I'm always immensely proud of Dec & Colette. I'd also like to shout out Rachel for her continued support across 21 Degrees and helping us all keep on track and stay sane.

Looking Forward to More Success Together
