The Brief

We produced a promotional video for Leeds City Council’s Be Smoke Free campaign, a service provided by One You Leeds offering free help to quit smoking over a twelve-week course. Briefed by the council’s health improvement specialist, the aim was to decrease smoking rates in Leeds by increasing uptake of the service. With the programme now dependent on self-referrals rather than healthcare referrals, the challenge was a narrative that encouraged people to join.

What We Did

We chose a family-oriented narrative, emotive yet relatable, and wrote a voiceover with a clear call to action that kept the tone light while tackling addiction sensitively. Filming took in Roundhay Park, Clarence Dock and Elland Road, with B-roll across Leeds. The finished film ran across the council’s website, YouTube, GP practice newsletters, bulletins, briefings and social media.
